A useful roadmap records what the team will build, what is waiting, and why. Put each proposal beside the customer need or operational problem it addresses before estimating the implementation.

Build when differentiation or control matters. Buy when the capability is commodity and integration cost is acceptable.

Look for shared dependencies. Fixing an unreliable customer-data integration may enable several features, while another dashboard would leave the same underlying problem in place.

Review deferred decisions when the assumptions change. Record the trigger for reconsidering each item, such as a new customer requirement, higher usage, or the end of vendor support.
